Silicon Valley Lines: Layout Tour

Silicon Valley Lines Model Railroad Club is the process of building a double deck HO scale layout. We are using a mixture of steel strut and plywood box construction and will eventually have more than 600' of mainline with plenty of opportunity for both mainline running and switching.

We'll begin our tour on the lower level. Click on the layout plan to get started.

Of course, the foundation of any layout is the benchwork. We use steel strut and plywood box construction. Find out more about the benchwork here.

We use Ship It! to generate train orders and DCC control for realistic operation. Three major staging yards, two freight yards, and a passenger facility generate enough traffic to keep many operators busy.

SVL has uses a mixture of NCE, System One, and Lenz DCC equipment to control model locomotives in a realistic fashion. Check out our DCC page for more info.
